Chelsea Now photo by Jefferson Siegel Hand-to-hand combat The New York Arm Wrestling Association celebrated its 31st year with the “NYC Big Apple Grapple” Sunday at the Javits Convention Center, billed as “New York City’s Arm Wrestling Event of the Century.” The international competition was open to all professional and amateur arm wrestlers vying for the title, and welcomed last year’s champs, as well as the 2007 King and Queen of Arms. NYAWA is a registered not-for-profit sports organization founded and officially established in 1977 by Gene Camp. He called the gripping competition the “most successful event ever in 31 years of our holding pro and amateur events. We drew the mightiest pro arm wrestlers from distant states and overseas to give homegrown pros their strongest challengers ever.” |
