Give blood
The 10th Precinct is conducting a blood drive at the station at 230 W. 20th St. between Seventh and Eighth Aves. on Thurs., May 22 from 1-6:30 p.m. The public as well as police will be welcomed.
Shots at car
A Brooklyn man, 21, was sitting in the passenger seat of a car moving east on 16th St. between Seventh and Eighth Aves. around 4:30 a.m. Mon., May 5 when an unidentified man ran alongside and fired several shots into the car, police said. The driver of the car and his front seat passenger got out and fled, but the victim who remained behind refused to identify them, police said.
Bagel shop theft
Eloy Perez, 19, of E. 111th St., was arrested on Fri., May 2 and charged with stealing $12,000 from a safe in the bagel store at 263 First Ave. near 15th St. three days earlier, a spokesperson for the District Attorney said.
Perez is charged with making his way into the office of the store at 11:45 a.m. Thurs., April 29, opening the safe with a screwdriver, and making off with the money. An employee spotted the suspect as he was fleeing and called police, who arrested Perez three days later.
Chelsea mugging
A man charged with robbing a victim on 10th Ave. in Chelsea around midnight on Sun., May 24 was arrested a half-hour later after employees of Empire Diner on 10th Ave. at 22nd St. locked him in the diner and called police.
David Holiday, 44, of Queens, had engaged a group men on 10th Ave., then grabbed one of them, took $100 from his pocket, punched him and fled, according to reports. The victim and his friends chased the suspect, who ran into the diner.
Holiday was charged with robbery and was being held pending a May 9 arraignment, a spokesperson for the DA said.
Gang assault
Police arrested five men from Clinton for severely beating two victims from New Jersey on the southwest corner of 11th Ave. and 29th St. during a 3:30 a.m. argument on Sun., May 4. One victim, 30, was punched, kicked and slashed on the face and required 45 stitches, a spokesperson for the DA said. The other victim was punch and sustained a broken nose. Police did not say what started the argument.
Hector Mayes, 25, of 406 W. 56th St.; Angel Flores, 28, Reynaldo Rosaly, 30, and Edgar Vargas, 30, all of 540 W. 52nd St.; and Jaysunn Rosado, 23, were charged with first degree gang assault.
West Chelsea hold-up
Two muggers held up two men at gunpoint on the 500 block of W. 26th St. after the victims left Home, the club at 542 W. 27th St., around 4 a.m. Tues., May 6, police said. The muggers took two watches and jewelry with a total value of $5,900 and $250 cash from the victims and drove off east in a blue Dodge Charger, police said.
Chelsea drug bust
Police arrested three UPS drivers on Thurs., April 24 in connection with a delivery of 10 pounds of heroin with a street value of $1 million to 109 W. 29th St. in the wholesale flower district.
Police in Louisville, Ky., alerted NYPD on Wednesday that their dogs sniffed the heroin at a UPS center there that was bound for the W. 29th St. address. City police dressed as U.P.S. employees monitored the package when it arrived and arrested the three suspects, Anthony Diaz, 36, and Jimmy Espinal, 37, both of the Bronx, and Dominick Gioino, 26, of Staten Island. They were being held pending a bail hearing and arraignment on June 2 for trafficking in heroin, a spokesperson for District Attorney Robert Morgenthau said. A third suspect, Kyle Reiloff, 20, of Queens, a security guard at the W. 29th St. building, was also arrested but was not charged.
Guest gone
A man, 57, told police that he “vaguely remembered” that someone was with him when he left Barracuda, the bar at 275 W. 22nd St. shortly after midnight on Sat., May 3 and went home to 315 W. 21st St. But when he woke up in the morning he was alone, and all his drawers and closets were ajar. His watch, cell phone, diamond ring, leather jacket, $800 in cash and credit cards were all gone.
Robbed on 28th St.
A man who left Guest House, the lounge at 542 W. 27th St., shortly before 3 a.m. Sun., May 4 was attacked a block away at 28th St. by two men who pushed him to the ground, police said. The victim, 30, felt what he believed was the muzzle of a pistol at the back of his head and heard a robber say, “Give me everything.” The two muggers took his Rolex watch, credit cards and $350 in cash, and fled.
Followed home
Just after entering his second floor apartment at 264 W. 15th St. at 3:35 a.m. Sun., May 4, a Chelsea man was followed in by two men. One of them was masked and the other was wielding a black hand gun, police said. The man without the mask said, “We’re not here to hurt you. We only want the money. Open the safe.” The victim complied and the robbers made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.
The masked robber never uttered a word, and police think the victim might have recognized him. The surveillance camera at the entrance to the building had been broken since a burglary six weeks ago, and police believe the two incidents might be related.
Pot bust
Police arrested Dion Barrera, 19, an Elliott-Chelsea Houses resident, outside 415 W. 25th St. at 2:34 a.m. Tues., May 5 and charged him with possessing 28 Ziplock bags of marijuana and two credit cards that were not his. He was released on his own recognizance pending a Sept. 8 court appearance, the DA’s spokesperson said.
