Rowdy revelers
Police arrested David Sjurset, 21, for throwing a bottle and hitting a woman patron while he was in Cabanas, the club in the Maritime Hotel, 88 Ninth Ave., at 12:22 a.m. Tues. Jan. 1.
At 5:10 a.m. on Jan. 1, one of a group of four or five men fighting with a victim opposite 330 W. 17th St., between Eighth and Ninth Aves., pulled a handgun and shot the victim in the ankle. The victim phoned 911, and police who responded found a gun at the scene. Police are investigating whether the victim had the gun at the time of the shooting.
Edward Javier, 23, was arrested at 6:30 a.m. New Years morning and charged with assault for punching a man, 24, in the mouth during an argument in front of 211 W. 21st St. between Seventh and Eighth Aves.
Steals car
A woman patron of Myst, 511 W. 28th St., who had been in an argument with another woman patron on New Years eve, left the club at 4:35 a.m. Jan. 1 and was about to get into her car at a garage at 552 W. 28th St. when her adversary walked by, snatched her bag, got into the victims car with a couple of friends and drove off with it, police said.
Cab driver robbed
Police arrested Catherine Patterson, 44, shortly after 3:30 p.m. Sun. Dec. 30 and charged her with taking $150 from a cab driver in front of 7 W. 14th St., after the driver rebuffed her amorous advances.
The suspect, a Brooklyn resident, got into the front seat of the cab while it was stopped at a red light, and asked the driver to kiss her and then said she wanted to have sex with him because she liked Indian men, according to a New York Post report. When the driver refused, the suspect grabbed a cup with the money and fled on foot. The driver gave chase, and the suspect was apprehended and held for police. Patterson was to be arraigned on second-degree robbery on Jan. 4.
Arrested in subway
Transit police arrested Kevin Romero, 23, on a northbound train at 5 a.m. Jan.1 and charged him with grand larceny for snatching a cell phone from a man standing on the platform at the 14th St. Eighth Ave. Station. The suspect did not have the cell phone when he was arrested but was in possession of credit cards that were not his, police said.
Big haul at ATM
A thief who broke into the ATM area of the Bank of America branch on Fifth Ave. at E. 28th St. before opening on Sat. Dec. 29 took $113,200 from one machine and damaged two other machines, according to police.
Illegal eviction
A woman tenant of the Hotel Chelsea, 222 W. 23rd St., told police at the 10th Precinct shortly before 4 a.m. Mon. Dec. 31 that the lock on her seventh-floor apartment had been changed while she was being treated at St. Vincents Hospital. There was no legal notice of eviction, police said. The hotel clerk was not found, and the woman refused to go to a shelter, police said.
Chelsea mugging
A man who was walking on W. 22 St. at 10th Ave. near his home at 2:45 p.m. Mon., Dec. 31 was victimized by a man who came up from behind, grabbed the back of his collar and said, Give me everything in your pocket, or Ill cut you. The victim surrendered $122, and the suspect fled west on 22nd St. A short time later, police arrested Samuel Black, 19, and charged him with the robbery.
Road rage
A cab driver told police that he was picking up a passenger at 7:15 p.m. Sun. Dec. 23 on W. 21st St. between Seventh and Eighth Aves. when a motorist stopped, got out of his car and tried to attack the passenger, who escaped a beating by getting into the cab and locking the door. The enraged attacker, described as a white Hispanic man 511 and 230 pounds, then kicked the cab door and dented it, according to the cab driver.
Argument escalates
Police arrested Marcario Martinez, 24, and charged him with assault in connection with a stabbing at a café on W. 13th St. just west of Eighth Ave. at 5:15 a.m. Sun. Dec. 30. The suspect, who was sitting with a friend, got into an argument with an employee that turned into a fight. When Martinezs friend tried to break it up, Martinez stabbed him in the arm with a kitchen knife, according to reports. The friend was treated at St. Vincents Hospital, and Martinez was booked for second-degree assault. His arraignment was scheduled for Jan. 4.
