Police Blotter

BSpot thieves
Police on patrol on Eighth Ave. just south of 23rd St. spotted suspicious activity at about 6:30 p.m. Tues. Feb. 27 in a telecom store and arrested four men, Dwayn Hardy, 26, Gerald Smith, 35, Gorham Valentin, 22, and Hason Green, 17, on burglary charges.

Break-in on Eighth
One or more burglars bent the iron security gate of a liquor store at 261 W. 18th St. at Eighth Ave. during the early hours of Sun. Feb. 25, smashed a glass display case and made off with unspecified merchandize, police said. They somehow managed to avoid setting off the store alarm, police said.

Hit Rite-Aides
Employees at the Rite-Aide at 282 Eighth Ave. near 24th St. stopped a man trying to walk out of the store at 7:20 p.m. Mon. Feb. 26 with two boxes of Entenmann’s pastry (Danish and coconut custard), a gallon of milk and a box of Nyquil without paying. They charged Richard Blumberg, 54, with larceny.

At the Rite-Aide at 188 Ninth Ave., near 22nd St. at 6:30 p.m. the same day, a guard stopped a woman trying to walk out with a box of Tylenol and a box of Advil. She fled when the merchandize fell out of her coat, police said.

Leather jacket
A Barneys security guard stopped a man trying to sneak out of the location at 236 W. 18th St. at Seventh Ave. at 6:30 p.m. Tues. Feb. 27 with a leather jacket valued at $2,188. Ivo Milin, 55, was charged with grand larceny.

Rapper traffic
Trevor Smith, the hip hop performer known as Busta Rhymes, who was already facing two charges of assault, one of them in Chelsea, was stopped at 6 a.m. Thurs. Feb. 22 at Broadway and Warren St. and charged with running a red light and driving without a license. He was released on his own recognizance.

On Feb.20, he was offered a sentence of three years probation, six months of anger management classes and three weeks of community service for a guilty plea on combined charges of assault on a man who spit on his car last August in Chelsea at Sixth Ave. at W. 19th St. and assault on his former driver in December of last year on W. Broadway at Chambers St. He declined the plea bargain and is due back in court on the assault charges and the driving violations on March 26.

Roxy ruckuses
A patron of Roxy, the club at 515 W. 18th St., punched another patron in the face at about 11 p.m. Sun. Feb. 25 and became violent and abusive when bouncers ejected him, police said. The suspect, Denis Popov, 28, was charged with assault.

At about 3 a.m. the same day, a woman patron told police that five bouncers at the club manhandled her husband who was trying to protect her during a fight that broke out. The woman said that when she shouted “That’s my husband, don’t touch him,” the bouncers threw her to the ground. There were no charges in that incident.

Raising Cain
A woman employee at Cain, the club at 540 W. 27th St., told police that she received about 10 phone calls between 8:40 and 10:40 p.m. Fri. Feb. 23 from a man with a West Indian accent who said he knew she was the only person at the phone at that hour and made sexual remarks. The caller did not identify himself, police said.

At about 4 a.m. Sun. Feb. 25, a woman patron, 23, discovered that her wallet with credit cards, her passport, house keys and makeup had been stolen while she was sitting at a table in Cain.

Ruby Falls
Police charged Diego Rodriguez, 20, with assault for landing a punch on another patron at Ruby Falls, the lounge at 603 W. 29th St during the early hours of Sat. Feb. 24.

Identity theft
A resident of 315 Eighth Ave., in the Penn South complex told police on Feb. 24 that Dell Financial Services phoned him to say that someone using his name and social security number had tried to bill him for $3,510 for a computer that was to be sent to an address on Willoughby St., Brooklyn. The victim said he didn’t think any ID documents had been stolen and didn’t know how the charges could have been made. Dell, however, assured him that they did not sent the merchandize.

Drunk drivers
Four motorists were arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated at the 10th Precinct DWI check point on 24th St. between 11th and 12th Aves. between 3:45 and 5:45 a.m. Sat. Feb 24, police said.

Diner
A patron of the Empire Diner, 210 10th Ave. at 22nd St. was arrested at about 2 a.m. Mon. Feb. 26 for breaking a window in the bathroom. Andrei Anheleyha, 27, was charged with criminal mischief.

Trespassers
Police arrested Andre Jones, 45, for breaking into the basement of a residential building at 409 W. 24th St. on Monday afternoon, Feb. 26. Gordon Compton, 38 was arrested at 8:15 p.m. Tues. Feb. 27 for breaking into a commercial construction site at 127 Eighth Ave. at W. 16th St. Jones and Compton were charged with criminal trespass.
