A prolific career After completing coursework at the School of Visual arts in 1960, Jack Endewelt was appointed to the faculty, where he worked until 1999. Throughout, he was a prolific illustrator for books and magazines such as Atlantic Monthly, and his work was exhibited in New York and Nevada, where he moved after he retired. “In Memoriam, 1935-2006” features 40 of his watercolors, drawings, and oil paintings, like “Joan Crawford,” above. Land, Ho! Six artists explore landscape imagery in Margaret Thatcher Project’s current group show, “Landscape Re-Imagined.” Working within a variety of mediums, such as Raymond Saá’s semi-abstract floral imagery on charcoal, which references his childhood in Miami, or Sebastian Lemm’s digitally-processed C-prints like “Lapse 2” (2004), above, each riffs upon historical notions of landscape using their own particular methods and ideas. 511 W. 25th St., 212-675-0222, thatcherprojects.com.
