Chelsea Now photos by Jefferson Siegel After 16 years, Chelsea street fair still draws a crowd The self-proclaimed “Best Little Street Fair in New York,” the London Terrace complex in Chelsea held its 16th annual event on Saturday featuring everything from cookies and clothing to an appearance by the original Mr. Met. The fair, on W. 24th St. between Ninth and 10th Aves., lasted most of the day as visitors flooded the block to hunt for bargains and homemade goodies. London Terrace residents Sarah Adams, 9, Ayumu Nishikubo, 10, and Ryo Nishikubo, 7, set up a stand to sell organic cookies and milk to hungry passersby (middle photo). Clad in a Mets T-shirt, Dan Reilly came to chat about his new book, “The Original Mr. Met Remembers,” stopping by a table set up for his favorite neighborhood newspaper (left photo). Shoppers also perused the fair’s collection of wares, which included clothing, home furnishings and other assorted knickknacks. |
