C.B. 4 meets on plans for new affordable housing in Chelsea
Community Board 4 last week invited the Department of Housing Preservation and Development and the New York City Housing Authority to a 6:30 p.m. Oct. 19 Affordable Housing Task Force meeting at the Hudson Guild, at 441 W. 26th St., to talk about the city’s upcoming request for proposals for affordable housing in the new West Chelsea-Highline Special District between 17th and 29th Sts. and in the Hudson Yards District to the north.
The city made a promise last year to build permanently affordable housing on three NYCHA parking lots, including two in Chelsea one on 18th St. between Ninth and Tenth Aves. in the Fulton complex, another on Ninth Ave. at the corner of W. 25th St. in the Elliott-Chelsea complex and the third, extending from W. 55th to 56th Sts. between 10th and 11th Aves.
